Birthmarked by Caragh O'Brien

Birthmarked opens up with a girl named Gaia delivering a baby, once the baby is safely into the world, Gaia takes the baby away from her mother to the Enclave, even though it is obvious that the mother hates it and Gaia is conflicted. Each midwife has to give 3 babies to the Enclave each month to live a "better" life.

This was fabulously written and an entrancing tale that I could barely put it down.

It's a tale of adventure, love, climate change, and an evil government trying hard to make life for the people with the "better" life in the Enclave.

Gaia has to work all this out when her parents are taken by the Enclave on the night of her first delivery.

A great begining to a series and I can't wait to read more about Gaia and her world.
