My Family For the War by Anne C. Voorhoeve

Historical fiction about world war 2 from the perspective of a Jewish girl, we've all read this story, whether it be in english class or on our own, but this book manages to take something so tragic, yet over done, and make it different.

This book is from the perspective of a ten year old girl from Germany, she is christian, but her grandparents were Jewish so is considered Jewish.

Her parents manage to get her on a kindertransport, and she is whisked away to England where she has to learn new customs, and learn who she really is.

I loved this book so much, you hear about the Holocaust all the time, but I had never heard of the Kindertransports before, or how people who were christian were persecuted if their ancestors were Jewish.

Also what was interesting is you don't ususally hear about people who got out of Germany, when she first gets out of Germany, you think maybe her life will be all happy from here, but you know it can't be true because its life during world war II.

When thinking of the Holocaust, you think that it would have been great if they all could escape, but you don't realize the pain the escapees went through even though they weren't being tortured. They had to hear about the family and friends living through that, or not, and wondering why they survived and not them.

This book was so interesting and one of a kind, even though it's such a terrible thing that happened, I loved reading it and would recommend it to anyone, even people who don't think they like historical fiction.
